Welcome!

Hey there, my dear friend! I’m Nacole, and I’m grateful to be the creator and writer behind Letters from the Countryside.

I am a retired homeschooling mother to three lovely, godly adult children, and I have been joyfully married to David, the one my soul loves, for 24 years. Additionally, we have three precious souls waiting to meet us when our pilgrimage ends here and we get called to our eternal home.

Both my husband and I were born and raised in the charming state of Georgia, where our family roots run deep.   My husband’s grandfather on his daddy's side came over to the States from Glasgow, Scotland, and the red in his beard is a clear testament to his Scottish heritage.

I am a southern girl who enjoys delving deep into God's Word, loving others, going barefoot, wearing dresses, drinking sweet tea, making old skills new, listening to my children play bluegrass, and sitting beside my husband out on the front porch swing listening to the wind chimes and the birds chirping as we swing. A front porch simply isn't complete without a porch swing, in my opinion. That's like sweet tea with no sugar!  My husband is my honey, my boys are my darlin's and my precious daughter is my husband's punkin’ and my baby girl. Bless your heart is a part of my vocabulary as well as y'all and "Jeet yet?", which is southern for, "Did ya eat yet?"

I am a devoted follower of my Savior, Jesus Christ and it is my aim to bring glory and honor to my Heavenly Father through all that I do until I take my last breath.

A Season of Waiting

With my daughter, my last child graduating high school, and our homeschooling journey coming to a close, I was fervently seeking the Lord for His direction in my life. This new season of life was uncharted territory for me. However, in His great mercy, a still, small voice, reminded me to wait upon the Lord. "The Lord is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him." Lamentations 3:25. I felt comforted and began embracing this new season of life that I had entered in to. I spent a great deal of my time with my family and in the Scriptures. I caught up on reading books that I hadn't previously had time for, made my very first hand sewn patchwork quilt, took up gardening and birdwatching and waited on my Heavenly Father to direct me in His plans for my life.  In His time, He saw fit to show me the next chapter in my story that was about to unfold.

Letters from the Countryside is Established

I had not stopped praying for God's will to be done in my life, as His will was my heart's desire. I wanted His Name to be glorified in whatever it was that I was to do. I have always embraced the art of writing, whether it be through letters, short stories, journal entries or poetry, but I never would have thought of this new writing adventure on my own. Through a series of events, I began Letters from the Countryside, and I am the writer of all of the letters, pouring my heart into each and every one. At first I had so many ideas, and I, like I have the tendency so often to do, began to "run the show", so to speak. After becoming overwhelmed, I went to Him. He had patiently waited for me to come back to reality and submit and commit my ways to Him. "Commit thy way unto the Lord; Trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass." Psalm 37:5.  He was directing me to do just what He wanted me to, and as I did, it all began to come together. While writing Hannah, Faith and the twin's stories, Aunt Sybil was a precious addition to Hannah and Faith's letters. I soon understood that Sybil was supposed to have a story of her own and that she would resonate with whomever read her tender letters. Then my precious daughter came to me and requested that I create a character for young women, and from that request, Ellie's character was created. Now there are letters for women of all ages!

Setting the Scene

Four of the five stories in Letters from the Countryside are set in Georgia, along a charming stretch of gravel road known as Shepherd's Path. From the very beginning of this journey, I was eager to celebrate this beautiful state, which my great, great grandparents, and so on, once called home. Meanwhile, Sybil's story takes place in the enchanting country of Scotland, honoring my husband's paternal heritage, even though Sybil, too, was born and raised in this beloved state.

"I came across Letters from the Countryside while looking at other similar sites….if you want to get back to the art and love of the old fashion way of handwriting letters this is where you need to be. Letters from the Countryside is far above any other website I looked at and the best part is it is completely centered around God. Nacole has put her whole heart into this—it’s just incredible. The customer service was phenomenal and very personal, Especially if you want someone who cares , which in return makes your experience even better. Nacole went above and beyond to help me with deciding which letter to choose for my grand daughter. I would definitely recommend this Website to my family and friends and I will definitely be a return customer, and the added bonus is I feel as if I made a new friend in Nacole!!!!"

"Finding Letters from the Countryside has been such a blessing! My father passed away last September and my Mom would sit and read the sympathy cards that poured in while she ate lunch. Eventually, the cards and letters stopped and she had remarked to me how lonely it made her feel because everyone else’s lives continued while she felt stuck in the grief of losing the love of her life. For Mother’s Day, I began searching for a Christian themed letter subscription to gift her. I came across Letters from the Countryside and I just knew Aunt Sybil’s story would resonate with my Mom. I’m so glad she can look forward to at least one letter every couple of weeks with her lunch. It is beyond evident the thoughtfulness and prayer that Nacole puts into these heartfelt letters. I’m grateful that God gave her the gift of writing and that she uses that gift to bless the lives of others through her characters and stories. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart Nacole!"
